And so it begins...

So this happened. There were enough nudges to convince me to put words on the internet. Since I have your attention, let me set this up:
Hi, I'm Ann and I assume you made your way here because you saw it online and if I'm lucky, someone referred to you this fucking site. I probably should have mentioned that I swear... Well, it's too late now. At this point, you might be wondering why I'm including things that I could easily edit out. That's not as fun, is it? I mention this a few times on here but I write exactly as I speak. My friends and family often point out how they can hear my voice and tone whenever they read something of mine. So buckle up kids -- It's about to be a bumpy ride!
Enough of that -- Let's go over what kind of content you may come across on this site.
Recipes
The recipes on this site are things I've baked in real life and am more than happy to share. You may or may not like them and that's ok. We don't all have the same taste so by all means, do some of your own modifications. Are my recipes in Metric and use a kitchen scale? Absolutely. It's what I do in real life so if you want to try one of mine out, I recommend getting a scale.
There are 2 versions to each recipe: one has profanity and the other doesn't. If you want to share a recipe but don't want to scare off grandma or give your boss the wrong message, send the Safe Space version which is linked at the top of every Unfiltered + Unabashed recipe.
The Safe Space version does not link to the Unfiltered + Unabashed one.
I make a lot of things and share content of them on my social media accounts, but no, not all of my recipes will be available on this site. Why? It's mine and I can determine what, when, and if I want to share. But you could ask... and I may say no.
Product Recommendations
Do I love it when someone watches a video or comes over to my house and asks me, "What is that?!" Absolutely! I'm not gatekeeping any of the equipment or tools so you'll see product recommendations in the blog or linked in recipes. If there are links to outside pages, go ahead and assume that I will receive a commission if you purchase through my link as part of an affiliate program. My full disclosure on affiliate links is here and should be linked at the top of each blog post.
Recipe Development Process
Have you tried a recipe and thought it was just alright? But what if you could make it better? Not everyone feels comfortable with this and other don't know where to start. That's ok! I fuck around with recipes all of the time and not all of them are great! There are some things that I make all of the time and fuck them up. It's not a failure, it's a reminder to be humble and more importantly - try again.
On occasion, I take on a challenge from one of my friends to see if I can make something. I start out with researching to develop a base recipe. I might spend some time making modifications or testing different ingredients or methods out. My absolute favorite versions of a chewy chocolate chip cookie took at least 100 cookies to develop the recipe. My husband and I at them... for science? Don't worry, we paced ourselves (?) because I wanted to know how long they would stay soft and chewy as well as the best way to store them. DELICIOUS SCIENCE!
Other times, someone will reach out asking for help making something because the results were just not it for them. For me, I'll start with whatever recipe they're using, ask what happened during their baking session, and then what results they were anticipating. Then on my own, I'll make the recipe based off my interpretation of the directions. I'll chat through the steps with the person and provide any tips or tricks that worked for me. Usually, I start to question what I would do differently and then the almost all of the original recipe changes from ingredients to quantities to the steps and baking temperature. Does it get converted to Metric? Yes, because I like consistency! Did you get a scale yet?
If I plan enough, either process will get documented and I'll share it here. I'm always open to ideas so send me a message!
Life + Non-Dessert things
Life happens all of the time, so I may have some updates that are more than just dessert. So why not keep going if we're already on the sharing train?! If you follow me on social media, you'll see glimpses in my stories. I forget to be human sometimes so it's a good way to remind myself to be one. If you don't follow me on social media, what are you waiting for?! They're linked somewhere on this site... It should be at the bottom and maybe over there? →
